Sterilization Process Operator

About the role

The Operator monitors sterilization systems, ensuring proper pressure, temperature, and humidity levels while moving products through the facility safely. Reporting to the Process Supervisor or Manager Operations, the role supports continuous production and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and record pressure, temperature, and relative humidity on charts or computer monitors.
• Turn valves and adjust controls to maintain safe equipment operation.
• Detect malfunctions in sterilizers and auxiliary units, assisting with repairs.
• Document process readings and report damaged product or system issues to supervisors.
• Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance tasks and assist maintenance as needed.
• Store and remove processing chemicals according to procedures and regulations.
• Participate in plant safety committees and follow all safety rules.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 6 months to 1 year experience in a sterilization environment (preferred).
• Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
• Ability to lift at least 50 lb and perform repetitive bending.
• Medical approval for respirator use and tolerance to high temperature/humidity conditions.

Required skills

• Forklift operation experience.
• Experience with EO (ethylene oxide) sterilization processes.
• Ability to read gauges and perform basic math calculations.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and monitoring.
