Chief Engineer – Water & Power Systems

About the role

The Chief Engineer will be stationed at Amentum sites within the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, supporting the DiPSS Venezuela BLS contract for the U.S. Department of State. This senior position oversees all water purification, storage, distribution, wastewater treatment, and power generation systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation of critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and enforce all Environmental, Safety, and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Supervise water and wastewater treatment plants, including laboratory testing, pumping, filtration, piping, and control systems.
• Manage water well operations, storage systems, and ensure compliance with contractual water‑treatment standards.
• Oversee prime power programs, including operation, calibration, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic control equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, condition monitoring, and modernization of power generation, transmission, and distribution assets.
• Support and maintain generators from Caterpillar, Cummins, Perkins, FG Wilson and other manufacturers (20 kW–160 kW).
• Provide daily guidance to supervisors, operators, mechanics, and technicians.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, develop statements of work, and ensure compliance with OBO, EPA, OSHA, and NEC standards.
• Handle administrative tasks such as material ordering, inventory control, logistics, and reporting.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing water purification, wastewater treatment, and power generation facilities.
• Strong knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, NEC, OBO).
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
