Area Manager

About the role

The Area Manager leads the implementation of Save the Children’s programmes within a defined geographical area, ensuring timely, effective, and accountable delivery of interventions for children and communities. This senior position coordinates teams, workplans, budgets and resources while maintaining strict compliance with organisational policies, donor requirements and national regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee programme activities, budgets (up to US$2‑5 million) and resources across the assigned area.
• Manage grant administration, including budget holding and reporting to donors such as ECHO, AECID, NORAD, GAC and UN agencies.
• Ensure compliance with security, child safeguarding, accountability and risk‑management frameworks.
• Lead logistics and supply procedures, and maintain strong partnerships with local stakeholders.
• Produce regular performance and financial reports aligned with the Venezuela Country Office strategy.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, International Relations, Development Studies or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with 5‑7 years progressive management experience (including at least 2 years in a similar role).
• Proven experience in grant management, budget oversight and donor reporting.
• Experience working with partners using a participatory approach.
• Fluent written and spoken English and proficient computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage logistics, supply chains and large programme portfolios.
