Area Manager

About the role

The Area Manager ensures the effective, timely, and accountable implementation of Save the Children’s interventions within a designated geographical area. The role coordinates teams, workplans, budgets and resources to deliver high‑quality programmes and measurable results for children and communities while complying with organisational policies, donor requirements and national regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor teams, workplans, budgets and resources across the area.
• Deliver programmes that meet quality standards and achieve measurable impact.
• Ensure full compliance with organisational policies, donor contracts (ECHO, AECID, NORAD, GAC, UN agencies) and national regulations.
• Apply security management, child safeguarding, accountability and risk‑management procedures.
• Manage logistics and supply processes.
• Oversee grant management, budget holding and donor reporting.
• Maintain and monitor a portfolio of projects valued up to USD 2‑5 million.
• Foster partnerships and a participatory approach with local actors.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, International Relations, Development Studies or related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with 5‑7 years progressive management experience (including 2 years in a similar role).
• Solid experience in grant management and donor reporting.
• Proven experience managing extensive portfolios (USD 2‑5 million).
• Strong people and programme management experience.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and computer literacy.
