Software Engineer (Lua) – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Software Engineer with deep expertise in Lua to join BairesDev’s remote team. You will work on the performance‑critical edge of our gateway infrastructure, ensuring authentication, routing and session‑management services run reliably at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain high‑performance Lua code that executes in the hot path of gateway services.
• Guarantee reliability and low latency of authentication and routing systems under heavy load.
• Debug, diagnose and resolve latency and fail‑over issues in distributed environments.
• Contribute to observability tooling and implement safe, staged rollout practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Lua programming.
• Hands‑on experience with Redis, including connection pooling, timeouts, failover and latency debugging.
• Familiarity with JWT/OIDC, gateway routing and tenant‑aware request handling.
• Understanding of p99 performance optimization and hot‑path safety.
• Advanced English communication skills.
