Senior Master Electrician

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Senior Master Electrician to be based at its Amentum site in the US Embassy, Caracas, supporting the DiPSS Venezuela BLS contract in support of the US Department of State. The position covers operation and maintenance of electric power and distribution system equipment and reports to the Electrician Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements, providing information and documentation to the relevant divisions.
• Diagnose and analyse simple to intermediate faults by interpreting diagrams and manuals, and report malfunctions or non-compliance with the Statement of Work (SOW) to the Operations and Maintenance Manager.
• Assist in diagnosing issues with switch gear PLC control and auxiliary control systems, and perform condition assessments of transformers, electrical insulation, switches and breaker panels.
• Help develop SOWs with diagrams and specifications in line with OSHA and NEC standards, and collect and summarise data for reports.
• Handle administrative tasks such as ordering material, inventorying and scheduling work, and manage tools, equipment and spare parts.
• Make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety and electrical codes, and evaluate operational effectiveness.

Required profile

• 10 years' experience in operations and maintenance services, including 7 years as a Master Electrician.
• Extensive experience in confined spaces and with EPR, XLP and multi-conductor cables, and with 600-amp bolted connections, 200-amp load-break terminations and heat/cold shrink applications.
• High school diploma or GED; valid driver's licence and a valid passport of home country (or application underway) with at least 18 months remaining and 8 blank pages.
• Master Electrician license or equivalent to a US master electrician license; ability to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government clearance (US citizenship required).
• Satisfactory English and successful completion of medical and dental examinations.
• Desired: experience with Amentum, and with SOW, sub-contractors, budgets, estimating and working/as-built drawings.

Required skills

• Knowledge of applicable codes, trade practices and electrical safety hazards.
• Ability to terminate, troubleshoot, test and splice fiber optic cable indoors and outdoors.
• Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good organisational, communication and time-management skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
