Project Assistant – GIS/Data Analyst (DTM)

About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is looking for a Project Assistant to provide GIS and data‑analysis support for its Digital Terrain Model (DTM) activities in the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Venezuela. Based in Caracas, the incumbent will help collect, visualise and manage spatial data that underpins the agency’s emergency response and recovery planning.
Key responsibilities
- Visualise and map data while ensuring consistency using appropriate GIS/mapping tools and products.
- Support the creation and regular updating of country atlases and base maps according to identified requirements.
- Assist IOM’s emergency response operations with GIS data storage, design and mapping.
- Generate GIS support and manage metadata for IOM data collection and the internal/external GeoPortal.
- Provide remote assistance for the web‑GIS GeoPortal and contribute to system design, development and maintenance.
Required profile
- Experience working in humanitarian or emergency‑response contexts.
- Ability to handle large spatial datasets and maintain data quality.
- Capacity to work both on‑site in Caracas and remotely as needed.
