IT Tech Specialist - Advanced Support & Infrastructure

About the role

A growing IT services team supporting a U.S.-based organization is looking for an experienced, proactive and solutions-oriented IT Tech Specialist. The role covers advanced technical support, network and cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, IT projects and automation, and mentoring junior technicians. It is a full-time position with a set schedule defined by the client.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues, including network failures, server problems, software issues and security incidents.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VPN, VLAN, firewalls, routers, switches and wireless networks.
• Manage Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and virtualization; administer Microsoft Azure, AWS and hybrid cloud environments.
• Monitor system performance, run preventive maintenance and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Conduct cybersecurity assessments, investigate threats and implement MFA, encryption, firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.
• Lead projects such as server deployments, infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations and network improvements.
• Develop automation scripts in PowerShell, Python or Bash, configure RMM tools and explore AI-powered tools.
• Mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, coordinate with vendors, document everything and communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in advanced IT support, systems administration or a similar senior-level IT role.
• Fluent English and Spanish, with excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to mentor junior technicians and explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Consistent availability during the client's set hours, willingness to complete training, and commitment to KPIs and client expectations.

Required skills

• Network infrastructure: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VPN, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
• Firewalls and security appliances such as Cisco, Palo Alto or SonicWall.
• Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, VMware or Hyper-V.
• Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
• Cybersecurity basics, vulnerability management and incident response.
• Backup and disaster recovery tools such as Veeam, Acronis or Synology.
• RMM tools such as ConnectWise, Kaseya or N-able.
• Scripting with PowerShell, Python or Bash.
