Health & Nutrition Officer (NO-1) – Temporary Appointment in Caracas, Venezuela

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Health & Nutrition Officer (NO-1) on a temporary appointment to support emergency response and recovery efforts in the Caracas, La Guaira and Miranda regions of Venezuela. The officer will work closely with national authorities, UN partners and local communities to restore essential health, nutrition and WASH services after the recent devastating earthquakes.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate multisectoral health and nutrition interventions for affected populations, including children, pregnant and lactating women.
• Assess damage to health facilities and supply chains, and develop plans to restore services and ensure the availability of medicines and nutrition supplies.
• Support the implementation of the Humanitarian Response Plan and its addendum, monitoring progress against targets for 1.3 million people.
• Provide technical guidance to field teams on nutrition screening, therapeutic feeding and disease surveillance.
• Collaborate with UNICEF’s WASH, Education and Protection units to ensure an integrated response.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, nutrition, medicine or a related field.
• Significant experience (minimum 5 years) in health and nutrition programming in humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to work with government agencies, UN partners and NGOs in complex emergencies.
• Fluency in Spanish and working knowledge of English.
