Emergency Officer (NO-2) – Temporary Assignment in Caracas

About the role

The Emergency Officer (NO-2) will support UNICEF’s country office in Venezuela to sustain and strengthen operational capacity for the ongoing earthquake response and future emergencies. This temporary assignment is based in Caracas and focuses on delivering child‑centered humanitarian assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor emergency response activities across health, nutrition, WASH, education and child protection sectors.
• Support the preparation of operational plans, budgets and reporting for the earthquake response.
• Collaborate with government authorities, UN partners and NGOs to ensure timely delivery of services to affected children and families.
• Assist in logistics, procurement and distribution of essential supplies to hard‑to‑reach communities.
• Contribute to risk assessments, contingency planning and preparedness initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in humanitarian affairs, public health, social sciences or related field.
• Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in emergency response or programme management, preferably in a UN or international NGO context.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Fluency in English; Spanish is an asset.
