Child Protection Specialist (MHPSS) – Temporary, 6 months, Caracas

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Specialist to lead the design, implementation and monitoring of psychosocial programmes for children displaced by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela. The position is a six‑month temporary appointment based in Caracas and reports to the Child Protection Specialist.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for MHPSS interventions in the emergency response.
• Design and implement psychosocial support programmes for affected children and caregivers.
• Coordinate with government authorities, UN agencies and humanitarian partners to ensure a coherent response.
• Embed community engagement, accountability and behaviorally‑informed approaches across sectors.
• Align all activities with UNICEF’s Core Commitments and monitor their impact.

Required profile

• Experience in child protection and mental health/psychosocial support in humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate multi‑sectoral programmes.
• Knowledge of community‑based engagement and accountability mechanisms.
• Capacity to work under government leadership and existing partnerships.
