Associate Humanitarian Finance Officer

About the role

The Associate Humanitarian Finance Officer will support OCHA's Humanitarian Financing Unit in Venezuela, helping to ensure that humanitarian funds are managed efficiently and in line with UN guidelines. Reporting to the Head of Humanitarian Financing Unit, the role contributes to the design and implementation of financial and project management strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for administrative and financial workflows across the Humanitarian Financing Unit.
• Review project applications and budgets for compliance with HF guidelines and quality standards.
• Provide guidance to partners on financing procedures and grant requirements.
• Conduct market cost surveys for commonly purchased items in humanitarian projects.
• Analyse project budgets, identify normal costs and variations, and advise on amendments.
• Prepare and control financial reports and account reconciliations for humanitarian projects.

Required profile

• Master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of experience.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English.
• Experience in humanitarian financing, budget review, or financial management is preferred.
