General Manager Airport Operations

About the role

United is seeking a seasoned leader to oversee all airport operations at its Caracas outstation. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and customer‑focused services while meeting regulatory and financial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operational, financial and personnel performance of the international outstation.
• Maintain operational integrity, service levels, cost control and safety in line with U.S. TSA directives and local security requirements.
• Monitor performance against plans and initiate corrective actions.
• Determine equipment, facilities, staffing and training needs to achieve operational goals.
• Provide functional guidance and supervision to contracted ground‑handling agents.
• Represent airport activities to host‑government authorities, TSA, FAA and other aviation agencies.
• Oversee safety and security, flight departure reliability, customer processing, ramp and baggage handling, fueling, aircraft appearance and cabin provisioning.
• Deploy on‑ground technology and equipment, and manage vendor operations as applicable.
• Maintain strong relationships with airlines, airport authorities, vendors and governmental agencies.
• Manage vendor service contracts and ensure positive employee‑relations environment.
• Ensure superior customer service for United and Star Alliance partner airlines.
• Control station budget, third‑party staffing forecasts and resource requirements.
• Collaborate on regional assignments as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing international airport operations.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Familiarity with FAA, TSA, CBP and local aviation regulations.
• Experience in financial management and budgeting for airport stations.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate contracted ground‑handling agents.
