Education Counsellor

About the role

The Education Counsellor will provide counselling services to guide international students in selecting institutions that match their learning and career goals. The role involves delivering accurate information on study opportunities, local education systems, cultures, and assisting with applications and visa processes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality customer service and proactively drive sales and cross-sales to meet pipeline and sales targets.
• Counsel prospective students and their families about study options, both face-to-face and via telephone.
• Provide information on institutions, follow up on applications, and keep students informed of offers or rejections.
• Assist students with entry-visa applications and related documentation.
• Maintain accurate and timely updates of student applications in the IDP Global database and reporting systems.
• Offer after-sales support to generate referrals from parents and students.
• Organize and implement promotional activities at local institutions and IDP offices, including exhibitions and seminars.
• Interpret for institutions during seminars, interviews, and exhibitions.
• Build and maintain rapport with students, families, institutional clients, and visa offices.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in service counselling (e.g., English courses, professional courses, overseas study consulting, or banking/finance consulting).
• Preferably 1 year of experience with overseas study consulting for Australia, the US, the UK, Canada or New Zealand.
• Excellent communication and customer-orientation skills.
• Strong sales ability and capacity to maintain and expand customer relationships.
• Ability to work under high pressure and meet targets.
• Professional business communication in both English and Vietnamese.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
