About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a qualified Civil Engineer to lead emergency shelter assessments and design solutions for displaced populations in Venezuela. This position supports the safe rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure and the implementation of temporary and transitional shelters.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct detailed technical assessments of affected infrastructure, including homes, public buildings, and community centers.
- Classify structures by damage level and habitability, recommending repair, reinforcement, or demolition.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations for rehabilitation and safety certification.
- Design and adapt temporary and transitional shelter solutions to local climatic, cultural, and construction conditions.
- Oversee construction activities and ensure compliance with safety standards for shelters used by displaced persons.
Required profile
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience in post‑disaster damage assessment and shelter design.
- Ability to work in humanitarian contexts and collaborate with multi‑agency teams.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
