Doctor - Functional Assessor

About the role

We are seeking a GMC‑registered Doctor to join our team as a Functional Assessor in Cardiff. In this hybrid permanent position you will evaluate how disabilities or health conditions impact daily living and produce factual reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The role offers a blend of clinical work and report writing, providing a break from traditional shift patterns.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals with a wide range of medical and mental health conditions.
• Analyse how each condition affects the person’s daily activities and functional abilities.
• Prepare clear, evidence‑based reports to support DWP benefit eligibility decisions.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with GMC and DWP guidelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to share findings and support patient outcomes.

Required profile

• GMC‑registered Doctor with at least one year of post‑registration experience in the UK.
• Proactive learner with strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Comfortable working with complex and diverse clinical cases, including mental health.
• Willingness to work hybrid hours (Monday‑Friday, 9‑5).

Required skills

• Proficiency in using computer software to produce detailed written reports.
