Disaster Preparedness Coordinator

About the role

The Disaster Preparedness Coordinator will serve as DRC's primary expert on institutional and community‑based disaster readiness, focusing on proactive strategies, early warning systems and building resilience of communities and local stakeholders in Venezuela.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and guidance for Disaster Risk Reduction, Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Management projects at organizational, government and community levels.
• Lead design and implementation of Anticipatory Action projects, develop tools and methodologies, and establish impact measurement systems.
• Coordinate with inter‑institutional and local partners, represent DRC in regional and global forums, and co‑lead the Anticipatory Action sub‑working group.
• Strengthen capacity‑building and knowledge‑sharing, deliver timely updates on best practices and lessons learned.
• Support planning, reporting and quality assurance for disaster preparedness and resilience approaches.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in humanitarian Disaster Risk Reduction and preparedness, with at least 3 years managing projects in Latin America.
• Advanced degree in Disaster Risk Reduction & Management, Urban Planning, social sciences or related field.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken) and Spanish (mandatory).
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with authorities and humanitarian actors.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in disaster risk reduction, early warning systems and anticipatory action.
• Experience designing donor proposals and managing narrative and financial reporting.
