Communications Officer (P)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Communications Officer to support its mission in Venezuela. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and working closely with program managers and headquarters, the officer will implement media and communication activities that promote IOM’s work and the narrative of migration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering IOM Venezuela’s internal and external communication strategies in line with organisational guidelines and donor requirements.
• Develop and execute project visibility and communication plans for migration‑related programmes.
• Prepare press releases, briefing notes, newsletters, and social media content for diverse audiences.
• Liaise with media, public, donors, UN agencies and other partners to ensure accurate representation of IOM activities.
• Support the monitoring and evaluation of communication outputs and maintain communication archives.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
• Relevant experience in media relations, public information or communications within an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong writing and editing skills in English; knowledge of Spanish is an advantage.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams and adapt to a fast‑changing environment.
