Child Protection Officer (GBV) – Temporary Appointment (6 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Child Protection Officer specialized in gender‑based violence (GBV) to support emergency response efforts in Caracas, Venezuela. The position is a six‑month temporary appointment at the NO‑2 level, focusing on safeguarding children and caregivers affected by the recent earthquakes.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate child protection activities with national, regional and local authorities in the earthquake‑affected areas.
• Provide technical guidance on GBV prevention and response for UNICEF programmes.
• Monitor and assess acute vulnerabilities of children and women, ensuring timely humanitarian assistance.
• Contribute to the development of protection strategies and reporting mechanisms.
• Support capacity‑building for partners and community stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in child protection and GBV within humanitarian contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multi‑stakeholder environments and under emergency conditions.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency is an advantage.
