Child Protection MHPSS Specialist – Temporary (6 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Specialist to lead the design and implementation of a psychosocial programme for children displaced by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela. The position is a six‑month temporary appointment based in Caracas, reporting to the Child Protection Specialist.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for MHPSS interventions in the earthquake response.
• Design, implement and monitor psychosocial support programmes for affected children and caregivers.
• Coordinate multi‑sectoral activities with government, UN agencies and humanitarian partners.
• Ensure community engagement, accountability and behaviorally informed approaches are embedded across interventions.
• Align all activities with UNICEF’s Core Commitments and existing partnerships.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mental health and psychosocial support within humanitarian emergencies.
• Ability to lead and coordinate multi‑sectoral response efforts.
• Familiarity with child protection principles and UNICEF guidelines.
• Strong analytical and monitoring skills to track programme outcomes.
