Category Management Specialist – Retail Optimization

About the role

The Category Management Specialist will lead the development and execution of category optimization projects for key customers in the DT, IT, and D&P segments. This strategic role transforms shopper insights into actionable selling stories that drive measurable ROI and market‑leading performance. The position is based in Caracas and works closely with sales and commercial teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement optimal assortment and shelf placement strategies to maximize space profitability and chain sales across assigned categories.
• Develop comprehensive Category Assessments and Productivity Analyses using Colgate‑Palmolive tools, delivering quarterly performance reviews against goals and market benchmarks.
• Create and present compelling Category Selling Stories and NPI exhibition proposals, ensuring successful pilot roll‑outs and expansions.
• Partner with the CD Team/Sales to identify growth opportunities and support the implementation of advanced execution tools for key stakeholders.
• Lead training initiatives for merchandisers, commercial teams, and external clients on CATMAN methodologies and specialized software tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree completed.
• Minimum 2 + years experience in sales, commercial or marketing roles.
• Intermediate proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel for advanced data management.
• Fluent written and verbal English.
• Preferred: hands‑on experience with tools such as Spaceman or Microsoft Access.
• Preferred: prior experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry and strong strategic storytelling abilities.
