Transition and Recovery Officer (Professional)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Transition and Recovery Officer to lead early‑recovery and community‑stabilisation initiatives in response to the recent earthquakes in Venezuela. Reporting to the Head of Programs and under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the officer will design, manage and implement programmes that create durable solutions for internally displaced persons.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee transition, recovery and stabilization projects, ensuring alignment with IOM strategic objectives.
• Provide operational management, guidance and technical supervision to national and international staff involved in recovery activities.
• Coordinate with governmental, inter‑governmental and non‑governmental partners to secure resources and facilitate programme implementation.
• Monitor financial and administrative aspects of projects, preparing reports and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
• Contribute to the development of programmatic strategies, including needs assessments and risk analyses.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in humanitarian affairs, disaster risk management, international development or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in early recovery, community stabilization or displacement contexts, preferably in Latin America.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments and to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Spanish is an asset.
