Strategic Buyer

About the role

Flowserve is looking for a technically strong Strategic Buyer to manage the procurement of industrial materials, equipment, subcontracted components, and specialized services for operations in Venezuela, Ecuador, and Colombia. The role partners with engineering, operations, commercial teams and suppliers to ensure purchases meet technical, quality, cost and delivery requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end purchasing of industrial materials, equipment, components and specialized services, applying Just‑in‑Time principles.
• Review technical specifications, drawings and engineering requirements to verify compliance.
• Identify, evaluate, develop and manage local and international suppliers, negotiating pricing, contracts, payment terms and delivery conditions.
• Support commercial operations during quotation stages by securing competitive pricing and lead‑time commitments.
• Monitor purchase orders, supplier performance, logistics, import processes and inter‑company orders to ensure on‑time delivery.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, resolve supply‑chain issues and align purchasing strategy with business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing or technical project procurement.
• Proven experience purchasing industrial components, machinery, technical materials and specialized services.
• Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, quality, logistics and inventory management.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, specifications, drawings and engineering requirements.
• Advanced negotiation skills for pricing, contracts, payment terms and delivery conditions.
• Intermediate to advanced English proficiency and residence in Venezuela.
