Senior Systems Engineer – High‑Performance Data Processing (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to design, optimise and maintain high‑performance data processing systems. The role focuses on safe concurrency, Python‑C++ interoperability and efficient handling of large‑scale datasets, all in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise large‑scale data processing pipelines ensuring safe concurrency, efficient memory usage and high performance using Python and modern C++.
• Improve and integrate columnar data pipelines based on Apache Arrow and Parquet, guaranteeing zero‑copy operations and optimal I/O.
• Build, profile and debug critical components with low‑level tools (gdb, valgrind, perf, sanitizers) to resolve race conditions, memory leaks and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate closely with data‑engineering, DevOps and platform teams to ensure scalability, stability and observability.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for mixed Python/C++ environments and integrate observability tools such as Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience with concurrent systems and large‑scale data processing.
• Advanced proficiency in Python (multiprocessing, threading, shared_memory) and modern C++ (C++17+).
• Strong knowledge of IPC, shared memory (shm_open, mmap) and Python‑C++ bindings (ctypes, pybind11, numpy.ctypeslib).
• 3+ years of cloud experience on AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Hands‑on experience with Apache Arrow, Parquet, pyarrow and NumPy.
• Proficiency with debugging and profiling tools (perf, valgrind, gdb/lldb, ASAN/UBSAN, py‑spy, tracemalloc).
• Experience in stress and integration testing, observability, and CI/CD for mixed language projects.
• Advanced English communication skills.
