Senior Protection Associate

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Protection Associate to strengthen its emergency protection programme in Venezuela. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and the Protection Officer, you will help ensure quality and operational oversight of interventions for earthquake‑affected and displaced populations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor protection activities across multiple sectors, ensuring compliance with IOM standards.
• Provide technical and operational support for community‑based protection, gender‑based violence prevention, child protection, and family reunification.
• Lead information and awareness campaigns and maintain accountability mechanisms for affected communities.
• Support the development of referral pathways to specialized services and oversee data collection and reporting.
• Collaborate with the Regional Office, Headquarters, and local partners to align programme objectives.

Required profile

• University degree in social sciences, humanitarian affairs, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in protection, humanitarian response, or migration management.
• Demonstrated experience working in emergency contexts, preferably in Latin America.
• Strong understanding of protection principles, gender‑based violence, and child protection standards.
