Protection Associate – Humanitarian Protection

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Protection Associate to support its humanitarian response in Venezuela. Based in Caracas, the associate will work under the Senior Protection Associate and the Chief of Mission to deliver protection interventions for populations affected by the recent earthquakes and displacement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing field‑level protection activities, including community engagement and protection monitoring.
• Support the collection, analysis and management of protection data and information.
• Facilitate referrals to relevant services and ensure compliance with IOM protection standards and donor requirements.
• Coordinate with the Protection Officer, programme teams and external partners to address protection risks for vulnerable groups such as women, children, older persons and persons with disabilities.
• Contribute to reporting, documentation and follow‑up of protection interventions.

Required profile

• University degree in social sciences, humanitarian studies, law, international relations or a related field.
• Experience in protection, humanitarian assistance or migration contexts, preferably in emergency settings.
• Knowledge of protection principles, standards and best practices.
• Ability to work in a multicultural team and communicate effectively in English; Spanish is an advantage.
