Property Manager

About the role

The John Stewart Company seeks an experienced Property Manager to oversee day‑to‑day operations of an affordable‑housing property. You will ensure the building is well‑maintained, compliant with all regulatory requirements, and that residents receive responsive service.

Key responsibilities

• Apply property rules, lease agreements, and report violations consistently.
• Maintain accurate resident files at move‑in and each recertification per regulatory guidelines.
• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and, when necessary, terminate staff.
• Ensure compliance with HUD, TCAC, LOSP, NPLH, PHA, RHCP, CAL HFA, AHP, and other program requirements.
• Collect deposits and rents, complete certifications, and manage documentation.
• Address resident requests or complaints promptly and courteously.
• Oversee work orders and turnover of vacant units efficiently.

Required profile

• Basic mathematical skills and strong English reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Minimum two years of management, training, and evaluation experience with Tax Credit properties.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Boston Post software knowledge is a plus.
