Programme Director & External Engagement – Caracas

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a senior leader to head the design and delivery of its programme portfolio and external engagement in Venezuela. Based in Caracas, the Programme Director & External Engagement will shape strategy, oversee fundraising, and ensure high‑quality implementation across all sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the Country Strategic Plan and localisation strategy aligned with Save the Children priorities.
• Design and manage annual needs assessments, child participation initiatives and advocacy/media campaigns.
• Oversee fundraising strategy for the Venezuela country office, engaging donors and partners.
• Directly manage heads of Programme Development & Quality, Partnerships, Localisation, and MEAL, ensuring performance and capacity building.
• Identify, monitor and mitigate programmatic risks and lead emergency preparedness planning.
• Represent Save the Children with government, UN agencies, donors and other key stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years senior management experience in international humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven track record in programme design, localisation, partnership management and resource mobilisation.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and cross‑sectoral influencing skills.
• Experience in operational planning, budgeting and people management.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
