Programme Director & External Engagement – Caracas

About the role

The Programme Director and External Engagement will lead the design, delivery and localisation of Save the Children’s programme portfolio in Venezuela, based in Caracas. The role combines strategic programme oversight with fundraising, advocacy and partnership management to ensure high‑quality impact for children.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Country Strategic Plan, localisation strategy and fundraising strategy aligned with Save the Children’s global priorities.
• Directly manage the heads of Programme Development & Quality, Partnerships, Localisation, and MEAL, ensuring cohesive delivery of all programmes.
• Oversee risk management, emergency preparedness and mitigation measures across the country office.
• Represent Save the Children with government, donors, UN agencies and other key stakeholders, building strategic partnerships.
• Monitor programme performance, conduct needs assessments and drive continuous improvement through data‑informed decisions.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of senior management experience in international or humanitarian contexts, including roles such as Deputy Country Director or Head of Programs.
• Proven ability to lead complex programmes, manage budgets, and mobilise resources from multilateral, institutional and corporate donors.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills, with experience in localisation and partnership programming.
• Fluent in Spanish and English, with deep knowledge of the Venezuelan operating environment.
