Medical Virtual Assistant – Remote, 30 hrs/week

About the role

We are seeking a highly capable Medical Virtual Assistant (MVA) to support the overall operational health of a busy healthcare clinic. The role is ideal for a sharp, proactive, detail‑oriented professional who can take ownership of important clinic workflows with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance shortly after check‑in and ensure accurate documentation.
• Review denied claims, identify reasons, and assist with reprocessing.
• Process Explanation of Benefits (EOB) documents and clear backlogs.
• Resolve outstanding patient balances and coordinate follow‑up actions.
• Support claims workflows, including Cigna and Veterans Affairs claims.
• Assist with vendor payment coordination and check payments.
• Monitor SOAP note completion, accuracy, and compliance.
• Track missed and canceled appointments, identifying patterns affecting revenue.
• Prepare operational reports on balances, appointments, EOBs, and denied claims.
• Facilitate communication between provider, care team, and administrative staff.
• Identify workflow gaps and recommend practical solutions to improve clinic efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant supporting a US healthcare practice.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be a Mac OS user with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
