Emergency Manager – UNICEF Venezuela

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an experienced Emergency Manager to lead the country office’s response to the recent earthquakes in Venezuela. Reporting to the Representative, the incumbent will set strategic direction for emergency preparedness and coordinate multi‑sectoral actions to protect children and support affected communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the emergency response plan for Venezuela, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s humanitarian standards.
• Provide technical leadership across health, nutrition, education, water‑sanitation and child protection sectors during crises.
• Represent UNICEF at high‑level coordination meetings with government authorities, UN Country Team, and humanitarian partners.
• Oversee rapid needs assessments, resource mobilization and allocation of funds and supplies.
• Monitor and report on response activities, ensuring accountability and timely delivery of assistance.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in humanitarian affairs, public health, international development or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing large‑scale emergency operations, preferably in a UN or NGO context.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and work with senior government and UN officials.
• Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency highly desirable.
