Emergency Coordinator - Venezuela

About the role

CESVI is seeking an Emergency Coordinator to lead its humanitarian response in Venezuela following the recent earthquake in the north of the country. Based in Caracas, the Coordinator will work closely with the Head of Mission and the Emergency Unit at headquarters to ensure rapid, effective assistance to affected communities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the humanitarian situation and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Lead rapid needs assessments and develop/update emergency response plans.
• Oversee the timely implementation of relief activities, including shelter, WASH, protection, cash assistance and early recovery.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and ad‑hoc situation reports and contribute to donor proposals and reporting.
• Represent CESVI in coordination meetings, liaise with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs, Red Cross and local partners.
• Supervise emergency staff, ensure safety, support recruitment and address performance issues.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, CESVI MEAL procedures and community feedback mechanisms.
• Manage emergency budgets, procurement, logistics and coordinate with finance, logistics and HR departments.

Required profile

• Degree in International Cooperation, Development Studies or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in emergency contexts with INGOs, in a role comparable to Head of Mission or Emergency Coordinator.
• Proven experience in leading humanitarian operations and coordinating multi‑stakeholder responses.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of emergency response planning and implementation.
• Experience with donor reporting, budgeting and procurement in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to supervise teams, ensure staff safety and maintain compliance with organizational procedures.
