Associate Humanitarian Finance Officer (Temporary)

About the role

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) is seeking an Associate Humanitarian Finance Officer on a temporary basis. The role supports the Crisis Response Division and the Humanitarian Financing Unit in Venezuela, ensuring effective financial management of humanitarian projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain country standard operating procedures for administrative and financial workflows of the Humanitarian Financing Unit.
• Review project applications and budgets for quality control and compliance with HF guidelines and budgetary criteria.
• Provide guidance to partners on humanitarian financing procedures and clarify grant requirements.
• Conduct market cost surveys for commonly purchased items under humanitarian financing projects.
• Analyse project budgets, identify normal costs and variations, and assess amendment requests.
• Track, collect, and review final financial reports from recipient organisations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Liaise with auditors, review audit findings, ensure corrective actions, and facilitate final disbursements and project close‑out.

Required profile

• National of the host country (Venezuela).
• Experience in financial management, budgeting, and audit processes within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Head of Humanitarian Financing Unit.
