API Inspector & Pipeline Inspector

About the role

SGS is looking for experienced API Inspectors and Pipeline Inspectors to support asset integrity, inspection, and compliance across Venezuela's oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, pipeline, and storage terminal infrastructure. The role involves performing in‑service and shutdown inspections of pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspections in accordance with API 510, API 570, API 653 and relevant industry standards.
• Assess condition, integrity and fitness‑for‑service of pressure equipment and piping assets.
• Inspect above‑ground and underground pipelines for corrosion, damage and operational integrity.
• Review inspection records, maintenance history, repair procedures and asset integrity documentation.
• Witness pressure testing, leak testing, mechanical integrity assessments and repair activities.
• Identify corrosion mechanisms, degradation and potential failure risks.
• Verify repairs, alterations and maintenance activities for code compliance.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, integrity assessments and corrective action recommendations.
• Coordinate with clients, maintenance teams, contractors and project stakeholders.

Required profile

• 8‑20 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, pipeline or storage terminal inspection.
• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Mandatory certifications: API 510, API 570, API 653 (or preferred).
• Strong knowledge of asset integrity management, corrosion control and risk‑based inspection.
