Senior Staff Accountant – Remote

About the role

We are a U.S.-based accounting and tax advisory firm looking for a detail‑oriented Senior Staff Accountant to work remotely from Venezuela. The role combines bookkeeping for multiple U.S. entities in QuickBooks Online with support for U.S. tax‑return preparation under the supervision of our senior tax preparer.

Key responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping for several U.S. companies in QuickBooks Online, categorising bank and credit‑card transactions.
• Perform monthly and year‑end reconciliations of bank, credit‑card, loan and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, year‑end adjusting entries and complete month‑end close procedures.
• Review general ledger, profit & loss and balance sheet for accuracy and resolve duplicate or mis‑classified transactions.
• Record owner contributions, distributions, shareholder or partner loans and inter‑company transactions.
• Organise client tax documents, enter data into the firm’s tax‑preparation software and prepare supporting schedules.
• Reconcile QuickBooks financial statements to the applicable tax return and assist with Forms 1040, 1040‑NR, 1065, 1120, 1120‑S, 1099, 5471, 5472 as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and communicate any missing documents or inconsistencies to the supervising tax preparer.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum two years of hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping, financial statements and month‑end closing.
• Experience performing reconciliations and journal entries.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Professional English reading and writing skills.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
