Purchasing Officer

About the role

The Purchasing Officer will lead procurement activities for Save the Children’s Eastern Region offices in Cumana, ensuring all goods and services are acquired in line with donor regulations and the organisation’s ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end purchasing processes for the Eastern Region.
• Request and evaluate quotes, generate reports and performance indicators.
• Visit suppliers, establish framework agreements and monitor contract preparation.
• Ensure compliance with donor regulations and the procurement manual.
• Maintain transparency and ethical conduct throughout all procurement activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an international NGO or the private sector.
• Intermediate level of English.
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills, high ethical standards and flexibility.
• Proactive problem‑solving attitude and commitment to humanitarian aid.
• Experience with complex procurement processes such as national tenders is desirable.
