HVAC Technician Supervisor

About the role

The HVAC Technician Supervisor will be based in Venezuela and will support the US Embassy Venezuela BLS Services contract for the U.S. Department of State. The role oversees the operation, maintenance and repair of all heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems across assigned sites, ensuring optimal climate control, energy efficiency and system reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate HVAC technicians and support staff in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of chillers, boilers, air handlers, cooling towers and control systems.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs to maximize system uptime and efficiency.
• Diagnose and resolve complex HVAC malfunctions and performance issues.
• Monitor the Building Automation System (BAS) for alarms and performance metrics, coordinating with BAS technicians as needed.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, manufacturer specifications and other applicable codes.
• Schedule personnel, including shifts and rotations, to maintain service levels and support short‑notice projects.
• Inspect and audit work to meet scope of work and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance and system modifications.
• Prepare reports on system performance, energy consumption and maintenance activities.
• Manage inventory of HVAC parts, tools and equipment and coordinate procurement.
• Train and mentor technicians and local staff on procedures, safety protocols and technical skills.
• Respond to emergency system failures and coordinate rapid restoration.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in HVAC operation, maintenance and repair.
• At least 5 years in a supervisory capacity managing HVAC operations for large commercial, industrial, institutional or government facilities.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment comparable to embassy facilities.
