Finance & Accounts Assistant (6-month contract) – Caracas

About the role

The Finance and Accounts Assistant will support UNICEF Venezuela’s finance and budget team during a critical emergency response period. The role involves handling day‑to‑day financial transactions, monitoring budgets, and preparing reports to ensure timely and accurate delivery of resources to programme sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Process invoices, vouchers and expense claims in line with UNICEF financial procedures.
• Assist in the preparation, monitoring and revision of budgets for programme and emergency activities.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support internal control activities.
• Prepare regular financial statements and ad‑hoc reports for senior management.
• Liaise with programme staff to verify financial requirements and ensure compliance.
• Support the finance team in emergency cash‑based interventions and rapid procurement processes.
• Contribute to the preparation of audit documentation and respond to audit queries.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• Relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within an international organization or humanitarian context.
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Good communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency is an advantage.
