Carpentry Supervisor

About the role

The Carpentry Supervisor will work on Amentum sites within the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, supporting the DiPSS Venezuela BLS contract for the U.S. Department of State. Reporting to the site O&M Manager, the role oversees office and residential relocations, minor furniture repairs, and a multi‑national team of locksmiths and carpenters.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance with Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Assign daily work and supervise a diverse workforce of locksmiths and carpenters.
• Perform carpentry services including carpet, tile, linoleum, window, stair, sign, drywall, steel‑stud, ceiling‑tile, and piping installations.
• Assemble and install Steelcase office furniture and other fixtures such as coat racks.
• Execute minor furniture repairs (bookcases, cabinets, chairs, doors, etc.) within an eight‑hour timeframe.
• Coordinate office and residential relocations, managing delivery and installation of furniture from the warehouse.
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections, report non‑compliance, and assist in developing Statements of Work.
• Handle administrative tasks: ordering materials, inventory control, scheduling, and reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years general carpentry experience in operations and maintenance.
• At least 3 years O&M experience in an overseas setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. building codes and standards.

Required skills

• Roofing – shingle and sheet‑metal.
• Concrete form construction, mixing and finishing.
• Carpet installation, including tile and runner carpet.
• Flooring types and installation (tile, linoleum).
• Operation of fixed and portable carpentry shop tools.
• Drywall, steel‑stud, ceiling‑track, and ceiling‑tile layout and installation.
• Piping and equipment installation in office and residential areas.
• Assembly of Steelcase office furniture and other fixtures.
• Minor furniture repair techniques.
