Plumbing Design Engineer

About the role

Utopia is seeking an experienced Plumbing Design Engineer to lead the design of plumbing, drainage, and water distribution systems for luxury villas and boutique hotels worldwide. This fully remote position reports to the MEP Design Manager and works closely with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and client representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design plumbing, drainage, supply, and distribution systems compliant with local codes and international standards.
• Lead spatial coordination with architectural and structural models, resolving clashes from concept through technical completion.
• Produce detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using CAD and BIM tools, guiding BIM modelers for consistency.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate systems without compromising spatial or aesthetic quality.
• Perform load calculations and system sizing to ensure optimal performance under all project conditions.
• Oversee equipment selection aligned with sustainability targets and luxury standards.
• Review and approve deliverables from third‑party designers, consultants, and surveyors.
• Participate in value‑engineering discussions to balance cost, quality, and guest experience.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Building Engineering with a focus on plumbing, drainage, pools, or storm drainage.
• 5‑10 years of engineering design experience in a consultancy or general contractor environment.
• Proven experience on low‑rise residential and hospitality projects (private villas, boutique hotels, resorts).
• Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal.
• Self‑organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage deliverables independently in a remote setting.
